Historic St. Augustine Research Institute

Who We Are

The Historic St. Augustine Research Institute (HSARI) helps scholars and others interested in St. Augustine-related research. HSARI is a collaborative project of Flagler College and the University of Florida. The St. Augustine Foundation, Inc., also supports us in our mission.

Our purpose is:

  •  Encouraging, coordinating, and disseminating active academic research related to the history, archaeology, and historical architecture of St. Augustine, Fla.
  • Applying this research to support historic preservation in the city.

Our research associates include scholars from colleges and universities who are involved in ongoing, scholarly research into St. Augustine’s historic heritage. Our associates are committed to making research results available to historic preservation efforts in the City and to the interested public.

HSARI maintains links with the many other agencies and organizations in St. Augustine that are committed to the town’s history and historic preservation. We also offer centralized information and resources for researchers, students, and interested members of the public who are not based in St. Augustine.
