Don't be shy! Reach out to the businesses and organizations in your community for scholarship opportunities. Many places use scholarships as a way to give back to the community, but don't necessarily advertise! Just ask, every little bit makes a difference! The more scholarships you can earn, the less you may need to take out in student loans. A little of your free time now, can greatly reduce your repayments after graduation!

Get and keep your student involved! Explain how spending a little time applying to scholarships can set them up for both educational and financial success after graduation! This is their entry into the adult world and the best way to aid their financial growth is to let them be involved in the funding of their education. Start teaching them how to budget for everyday expenses, create and build their savings, and show them how to make informed financial decisions. Include your child in financial aid meetings, even if it's a three-way call!
