Flagler College Graphic Design
4. The Rules
Admission to the Program
Flagler College's Graphic Design program is interested in attracting creative individuals with an interest in design, advertising, and new media production. Students are required to submit a portfolio of their artwork for review in order to gain admittance into the Art Department. Submissions of the Art Portfolio should be addressed to the Flagler College Director of Admissions. Portfolio evaluations will be conducted by Flagler College Art Department faculty. All Portfolios are to be submitted by one of four deadlines: the first week of December; the second week of January; the last week of February; or the last week of August (for spring enrollment). Actual submission dates may be obtained from the Office of Admissions.
Send seven to ten samples of original artwork as 35mm slides, printouts, or photographs (do not send original artwork). If sending slides, the slides must be inserted into a plastic slide sheet. Slides sent in a box or loose in envelope will not be accepted. Do not send compact discs. Submit color prints of electronic files. Include a list identifying the artwork: medium, title, size, date, and software used. Portfolio submissions will not be returned.
The portfolio should include seven to ten sample images of two-or three-dimensional work. The work needs to have been done recently (within the last two years). It may consist of a variety of media, may be finished or in sketch form and may be from an assigned class project or be self-directed.
