Cinematic Arts

The Cinematic Arts Program at Flagler College helps you explore film techniques that bring a story to life. Whether behind the camera or writing a script, you’ll learn to master your skills by working with renowned professionals in the industry with a passion for teaching.

What You'll Study

You can complete a major (51 credit hours) or minor (26 credit hours) in Cinematic Arts by taking courses that range from:

  • Digital Cinema
  • Audio Production
  • Creative Writing
  • Performance
  • Design and Motion Graphics
  • All phases of production for a major motion picture

The Cinematic Arts program is designed to incorporate various disciplines, such as English, Communication, Graphic Design, and Theatre Arts.

Practical Experience

Our classes and internship opportunities are built around hands-on experiences, helping you build a portfolio from day one. As a student in our cinematic arts program, you will take workshops that will train you in all phases of production techniques- preproduction, production, and postproduction.

FORT MOSE DOCUDRAMA

As a student, you’ll get to work on projects such as the two-year Fort Mose Docudrama, the story of America’s first legally sanctioned free African settlement. This unique learning opportunity will blend real-world experience with the knowledge you gain in the classroom.

Cinematic Arts majors will leave Flagler College with a great foundation. Students in this program will also get hands-on experience working with our Visiting Filmmaker on the production of a feature-length film for national distribution during their years here at Flagler College. They’ll all have an IMDb credit when they graduate. Pretty cool!! Dr. Tracy Halcomb, Professor & Coordinator of Cinematic Arts
