Flagler College receives Florida Humanities grant to hold summer program for high school students
Dec 20High school students from across the nation and our state will have the opportunity to learn about the academic disciplines of the humanities at Flagler College, specifically focused on St. Augustine, thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Florida Humanities Council. -
Flagler College Named a 2017-2018 Military Friendly School
Dec 19Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 receiving the designation. -
Flagler's Women of Vision welcomes new board members
Dec 14Flagler College’s Women of Vision Advisory Board, which provides scholarships and opportunities for women who attend the college, welcomed six new members recently. They include Robin Borland, Letti Bozard, Araan Burnett, Lisa Chismark, Paula Fallon and Susan Joyner. -
Another college milestone as first master's graduates receive diplomas
Dec 14Three students receiving diplomas at Flagler’s fall graduation ceremony represented a major milestone for the college: the first students to graduate from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Master’s Program. The college’s first master’s program was launched in 2016 as a distance-learning program, and Mary Catherine Serfilippi, Miranda McMillan Slusser, and Olivia Grace Williams joined more than 180 undergraduate students for the commencement on Dec. 9. -

Local fitness gym partners with Flagler class on marketing ideas and internships
Dec 6Local franchisees from one of the fastest growing fitness gyms in the country, Orangetheory Fitness, partnered with Flagler College Professor Leslie Gordon to offer her Consumer Behavior students internships at the end of the semester. Gordon’s Consumer Behavior class is a senior-level marketing course that blends studies of Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Communication. -

Nov 29Flagler College’s Vocal Arts will hold its Winter Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda of the college’s Ponce de Leon Hall, 74 King St. The performance will include an eclectic mix of traditional and holiday choral music in various styles. -

Crisp-Ellert at Flagler College to hold student art exhibition
Nov 21The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College will hold a fall exhibition of work by the college’s graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts candidates from the Department of Art and Design. The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 5-8 p.m. It will be on view on Friday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. -

Flagler College reaches out to help local organizations on community service day
Nov 18More than 300 Flagler College students, faculty, staff and alumni fanned out across St. Augustine on Saturday for a day of community service that benefitted 14 local nonprofit organizations that ranged from an emergency shelter for abused women to a local reserve for unwanted exotic animals. -

Senior Conservatory to feature theater focused on the 1980s
Nov 9With this fall’s Senior Conservatory theme of “Decades,” Flagler College Theatre Arts students are preparing to showcase their talents through personal accounts from the 1980s, tackling the topic of the New Millennium or overcoming obstacles millennials face. -
‘Flagler Creates!’ handmade items festival coming up on Nov. 18
Nov 2Flagler College will be hosting its eighth annual Flagler Creates! festival, featuring handmade items by the college’s students, faculty, staff and alumni on Saturday, Nov. 18. A portion of proceeds from participant donations will help finance student scholarships through the Flagler College Annual Fund. More than $6,000 has been donated to the fund since the event started in 2010. -
Ceremonial dedication held for Abare Hall at Flagler College
Oct 30Flagler College dedicated its newest residence hall in honor of former President William T. Abare, Jr. on Oct. 25 with a ribbon cutting. The building, named Abare Hall, is part of a $23 million complex on Malaga Street adjacent to the FEC Residence Halls on the banks of St. Augustine’s San Sebastian River. It houses 159 students in 75 suites.
