Community volunteer makes difference creating WFCF Endowment Fund
Oct 14, 2020
The WFCF Endowment Fund was established to supplement the budgetary needs of WFCF Flagler College Radio 88.5FM “Radio with a reason.”
Long time Classical Music Host, Barbara Minckley, created the fund which inspired WFCF listeners to contribute over the years and help the endowment recently reach its $25,000 funding goal. Minckley was a classical orchestral DJ who retired as a volunteer in 2018 after 22 years in the booth at the station.
Broadcasting on 88.5 FM since 1993, the station will celebrate its 27th anniversary this November. WFCF is an educational radio station staffed by 54 students and community volunteers and broadcasts a variety format, offering 15 musical genres, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It can also be heard on iHeartRadio. A WFCF program guide is on the station’s Facebook page.
Flagler College established the station as an educational tool for communication students and as an outreach arm to the St. Augustine community. As a noncommercial station, all gifts and endowments go directly towards its educational mission.
To further grow the endowment fund, a crowdfunding page has been set up at giving.flagler.edu. If interested in giving, you can also directly contact Jeffrey Davitt, Senior Director of Development in the Office of Institutional Advancement of Flagler College at 904.819.6489 or jdavitt@flagler.edu.
