Crisp-Ellert Art Museum Announces B.F.A. & B.A. Senior Portfolio Exhibition

Dec 3, 2021

The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College are pleased to announce our bi-annual exhibition of work by B.F.A. and B.A. candidates in the Department of Visual Art. The exhibition will be on view from Thursday, December 9, to Friday, December 10. The opening reception will occur from 5 to 8pm on December 9, and the exhibition will be on view December 10 from 10am to 4pm.

The exhibition will be open to Flagler College students, faculty, and staff during the opening hours listed above, and is free and open to the public.

Students in this semester’s Bachelor of Fine Art Portfolio and Bachelor of Art Portfolio courses worked under the guidance of Laura Mongiovi, Professor of Art.

BFA candidate Jasper Kilmartin makes work about both the societal and personal issues they’ve encountered on account of their LGTB identity. Through ink drawings and collage on paper, Kilmartin maps out the body; bringing awareness to it while simultaneously obscuring identifying features to portray the way the artist feels in their skin.

Bailey Shuler has created a body of work about reclaiming the female form on both a personal and societal level. The series includes paintings, drawings, ceramics, and mixed media, and celebrates the female body as a powerful, safe, sensual entity, outside of the context of the male gaze. Some of her forms are recognizable feminine symbols, while others are the artist’s more expressive recontextualizations of forms that honor and revere the female body.

The BA Portfolio exhibition will include painting, drawing, sculpture and video by Camren Meier, Abigail Noel, Kirsten Perotta, Micayla Robbins.

The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum is located in an accessible building. If you are a person with a disability and need reasonable accommodations, please contact Phil Pownall at 904-819-6460. Sign Language Interpreters are available upon request with a minimum of three days’ notice.
