Flagler College Announces 2023 Crimson & Gold President's Golf Classic
Sep 5, 2023
Flagler College is proud to announce the 2023 Crimson & Gold President's Golf Classic, an annual Athletics fundraising tournament set to take place on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023.
This signature event will be held at the King & Bear Golf Course located in the World Golf Village.
The President's Golf Classic serves as a tradition of support for the College's athletic scholarship fund, providing valuable assistance to deserving student-athletes with their tuition costs. In 2022 alone, this tournament successfully raised over $75,000 toward the cause.
This year's tournament promises a full day of fun on the course as participants take part in an 8 a.m. shotgun start. All groups of players will simultaneously commence the tournament from various holes, ensuring a seamless flow of play.
A ticket price of $125 per person covers the entire event, guaranteeing each golfer a gift bag, a choice between a golf shirt or hat, a delicious breakfast, two drink tickets, and a banquet luncheon.
Flagler is also excited to welcome Paul Posluszny as the 2023 President's Golf Classic guest speaker. Posluszny, a former two-time consensus All-America linebacker at Penn State, enjoyed an 11-year career in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars. Notably, he was named to the Pro Bowl for the 2013 season with the Jaguars.
Posluszny was recognized as an exceptional talent and achieved numerous accolades throughout his collegiate career. He was a two-time Chuck Bednarik Award winner, an honor bestowed upon the top college defensive player in the country. Additionally, Posluszny was given the Butkus Award and was a two-time Consensus All-American, becoming the first Penn State linebacker to achieve this distinction.
His dedication to both academics and athletics resulted in being a two-time Academic All-American, with ESPN The Magazine presenting him with the title of the 2006 Academic All-American of the Year.
Posluszny also emerged as a finalist for the coveted Draddy Trophy, an honor reserved for the nation's top student-athlete. In 2007, the Buffalo Bills selected him in the second round of the NFL Draft, marking the beginning of an impressive professional career.
