Flagler College Awarded Gold Level for 2022 Healthiest Companies

Flagler College was recently awarded the Gold Level Award for 2022 Healthiest Companies by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC) for creating a culture of health and wellness within the organization. Award recipients were honored at the Annual First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference on June 8, 2022, at the University of North Florida.

Award winners were recognized for making noteworthy strides to improve the health and well-being of their employees.  Applications were evaluated based on five key components of a well-rounded wellness program, which include, leadership alignment, promoting a healthy work environment and culture, wellness collaboration and program design, wellness programs and initiatives to support well-being, and evaluating and measuring opportunities and successes.

“The health and wellness of our employees are paramount to the success of our institution. I am so pleased to lead a team that is dedicated to this mission, and we will continue to strive for worksite wellness,” shared Kelly Toaston, VP and Chief HR and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Gold level award winners dedicate additional resources to ensure that their programs are being properly measured each year. They conduct an annual employee needs and interest survey, have a wellness operating plan, and strategically select programs that will address their most prevalent health risks and conditions.

“We are honored to be recipients of this award and are grateful for the support and contributions of all our internal and external collaborations to our health and wellness initiatives/programs,” shared Shari Stanford, Human Resources Manager for Flagler College.  “We will continue to prioritize, promote, and support the growth and improvement of the overall health and wellness of our employees.”

Specific health and wellness programming Flagler College offers its employees include but are not limited to, the Employee Assistance Program(EAP), employee discount programs, PTO, access to on-site Fitness Center and Fitness Room, Zumba and Yoga class offerings, healthy meal options at the Dining Hall, virtual access to a dietitian (includes one-on-one consultations), virtual access to retirement/financial consultants (includes one-on-one consultations), annual Health Fair with Biometric Screenings, access to Telehealth services, the option to have standing desks/ergonomic chairs, and an incentive for participation in an annual benefits survey.

The FCWWC was established in 2008 as a community work group led by a partnership between the FL Dept. of Health in Duval County and the City of Jacksonville Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Wellbeing. The mission of the Council is to improve the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance through their member businesses. Additionally, the FCWWC provides networking opportunities, training, education, and resources to support the growth and development of wellness professionals and the organizations they serve.
