Flagler's signature 'Spirits and Sports Cars' event to return for a fourth year in support of the College's LEAD Fund

Aug 22, 2023

Flagler College’s Leading, Empowering, Advancing, and Developing (LEAD) Fund is excited to host its fourth annual Spirits and Sports Cars fundraising event Thursday Sep. 14, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Art n’ Motion vintage showroom, 283 San Marco Ave. St Augustine, Fla.

This public event supports a growing endowment for student scholarships which has reached more than $150,000 since 2019. The LEAD Fund was established to “support young men at Flagler College through scholarships, mentorship, and leadership training,” as well as to encourage the recruitment and retention of male students at this once exclusively female institution.

Guests can look forward to bourbon tastings and specialty cocktail demonstrations courtesy of local distillery brands like Dog Rose Brewing Co. and Sailbird Distilling Co. Beer, wine, and heavy hors d’oeuvres will also be catered for guests to enjoy as they peruse the impressive showroom of rare and vintage cars.

In addition, the event will feature a “Beverage Appreciation” pop-up class teaching guests how to make specialty bourbon cocktails as well as casino games with a chance to take home a bottle of spirits.

This fundraising event will also include a silent auction featuring bottles of specialty bourbon and other spirits, artwork by local artists, and two incredible travel opportunities. One trip up for auction will tour guests through the infamous Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and the other will take them to the vibrant city of New Orleans.

Anyone interested in the event can register here for $75 per person.  Proceeds from the event will go directly toward the LEAD Fund scholarship.

Over the past four years, LEAD has bestowed 10 scholarships to male students in hopes of making a “profound difference in the recipients’ lives by easing the financial burden for them and their families and decreasing the amount of student loan debt they accrue to make their dream of a college education possible,” according to the event webpage
