New bookstore to open March 1

Feb 26, 2021

On March 1, Flagler’s new bookstore, managed by Barnes and Noble College, will open in the new Campus Services building located at 107 King Street. Operating hours will start out as 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours will expand as demand grows.

With a much larger footprint than previously occupied, now at over 3500 square feet, the newly-renovated space features an old-world design unique to Flagler’s campus and the surrounding St. Augustine community. Designed by architect Red Poppy Design, the open and inviting concept of the new space also feels modern at the same time.

“We are excited about the opening of our new campus store. The new store is over two times larger than the previous bookstore and has an expanded offering of Flagler College official logo merchandise. The store provides our students with a place to relax and have refreshments, as well as find all course materials and technology equipment, with a new online ordering system,” said Flagler College Vice President and CFO David Carson.

Some may recognize a friendly face in Pete Previte, Store Manager, and will certainly get to know newcomer Assistant Manager Jennifer Slover.

Items for sale at the shop include official Flagler College collegiate apparel and accessories, computers and tech supplies and accessories, grab-and-go refrigerated food items and snacks, coffee bar options, and all required course materials.

Adjoining the bookstore will be other services for students and the entirety of the campus community such as Mail Services, the Fitness Center, Central Receiving (campus deliveries), Campus Facilities department offices, workshop space and Environmental Health Services.

In addition to the excitement of having a new building with a new bookstore, students can also look forward to more job opportunities with the opening of the new space. Management anticipates the ability to hire between 5-10 student workers who are eligible for management training programs through Barnes and Noble College programs.
