Student and Family Information Session

Questions for all residential students

Can I still live with my assigned roommate?

A. We will do our best to keep as many roommates together as possible through this move. We understand that you have started to build a strong bond with your roommate, but we are confident that you will also be able to build a strong relationship with your new roommate. If we cannot keep roommates together, we will try to place students on the same floor or as suitemates.

Is there any additional financial assistance available?

A. As a wind-down of the federal HEERF (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) program, a one-time lump-sum payment will be disbursed to all eligible students. No application will be necessary. We will begin the distribution of these funds the week of September 5th. Additional information will be sent directly to all eligible students.

Can I get a refund if I choose not to enroll or to withdraw?

Deposit refund: Flagler’s $400 enrollment deposit is non-refundable, as we are still providing on-campus housing for you. In the event you decide to defer your enrollment, we can apply that deposit to either the Spring semester (January 2023) or the following Fall semester (Fall 2023). Please contact your admissions counselor for more information on the deferral process.

Tuition refund: Students will receive a refund for any payments made before move-in. After move-in, the student will be charged a daily rate up to the date of withdrawal. The daily rate will be based on the student’s room and board charges. Tuition will be adjusted 100% if a student withdrawals by the add/drop deadline. No adjustments will be made after the add/drop period.

Student loan refund: Student loans are not disbursed until after the drop/add period ends. Student loans will be canceled and will not be disbursed for any student who is not enrolled for the fall semester. Students who enroll and withdraw during the term will have their loans adjusted in accordance with the federal withdrawal calculation regulations.

Financial aid refund: Financial aid is not disbursed until after the drop/add period ends. Financial aid will be canceled and not be disbursed for any student not enrolled for the fall semester. Students who enroll and withdraw during the term will have their financial aid adjusted in accordance with federal, state, and institutional withdrawal calculation regulations.

What happened?

A. During the Ponce Hall renovation to install new flooring, paint, light fixtures, and furniture, the East Wing experienced a water leak from the Ponce’s fire suppression system on the third floor and damaged 46 newly completed rooms. The outcome of this event means that residential rooms in Ponce Hall East will be offline for the 2022-2023 years to allow for renovations from the leak and additional improvements that will further enhance the physical space.

Questions for residential students going to the Sebastian Hotel

Here is a quick video showcasing the Sebastian Hotel rooms for residential students.

How will I get to campus?

A. We are fortunate that the hotel is a quick 15-minute walk to the main campus. Flagler College will also offer shuttle services multiple times during the day so that if you would like to catch a ride to the main campus, you can! Shuttle service information and schedule will be emailed to you in a few short days, along with more information regarding the hotel.

Can I park at the hotel? Can we swap cars, or is it one registered car?

A. One vehicle per room is permitted to park at the hotel, which can be swapped with your roommate’s vehicle at any time. You and your roommate can determine whose car that is, but the other must park at the Abare Parking Garage. You are still required to have a Flagler College Parking Decal at the hotel.

What is the visitor policy for the hotel?

A. Visitors are allowed, but overnight guests must be approved by Residence Life.

How do the policies at the hotel differ from the other residence hall policies?

A. The policies in the hotel regarding alcohol, quiet hours, prohibited items, etc., will still be the same as a student living on campus. Students living at the Sebastian Hotel are expected to follow the same policies laid out in the Flagler College Student Handbook.

Questions for residential students who were in single rooms

Can I defer my enrollment to another semester?

A. Incoming students: Yes, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to honor your single request for a subsequent term. Please reach out to your admissions counselor should you decide to defer your enrollment. You can email the Office of Admissions at Admissions@flagler.edu.

Why is my accommodation not being accommodated anymore?

A. The Office of Residence Life at Flagler College does its best to accommodate all requests for singles, but there are times when we are not able to. During this unforeseen circumstance, this, unfortunately, means that we can no longer accommodate your single request but will do our best to see if a single room is open throughout the year. We are confident that your new roommates will help you prepare for the academic year and offer a support system for you here at Flagler.

Will my price be reduced since I am no longer assigned to a single?

A. Students will not be charged the single room rate if they are no longer assigned a single room.
