Russian revolutionary scholar to talk on 'Revisiting the Russian Revolution'

Rex Wade, a Russian revolutionary scholar, will be involved in several activities on campus and plans to give a presentation on “Revisiting the Russian Revolution: Popular Expectations, Politics and the Bolshevik Triumph” on Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. in the Flagler Room at Flagler College, 74 King St.

Wade is a Professor of History, Emeritus, at George Mason University, but has also served at other institutions including University of Hawaii, Wisconsin State University, University of North Carolina, University of Nebraska, and Portland State University.

Wade has written many articles for publications including “Journal of Modern History,” “Soviet Studies, Modern Encyclopedia of Russian and Soviet History,” “Dictionary of the Russian Revolution” and more. Also, Wade has written 14 books on Soviet history and Russian culture. At his presentation, Wade will have copies of one of his books for sale.

Throughout his years of experience, Wade has received many awards and honors such as the Outstanding Service Award and Senior Scholar Award from the Southern Conference on Slavic Studies. He was inducted in the Scholars’ Hall of Fame from Southwestern College.

Wade continues to participate on panels at conferences of national and regional professional associations, such as the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, the American Historical Association and their regional affiliates. 

Wade’s presentation will be open to the public.
