At this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Flagler College’s Theatre Arts students Zach Racine and Elijah Eyerly made it to the final round of the competition. This regional festival features over 250 actors to compete in scenes and monologues over the course of a week until several cuts are made narrowing the field to 16 performers.

Racine and Eyerly participated in the Irene Ryan Acting Award with one scene partner a piece. Racine made it to the final round with his scene partner, Hannah Pierce.

In addition to the Irene Ryan piece and various workshops, students attended productions from different institutions selected to present at the festival.

Last year, Flagler College’s production of “The Maids” was invited to present at the festival, receiving national attention for the work of the actors, costume designer and production, garnering “Outstanding” awards, the highest accolades awarded to only one school in the nation in each category.

“I am glad that our students can have the opportunity to be inspired and exposed to excellence in theatre,” Theatre Arts Department Chair Andrea McCook said.
