Angel Muñoz Gómez Andrade

Assistant Professor of Cognitive Psychology

Professional Profile

Dr. Munoz received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Wyoming in 2018. His main area of interest is Cognitive Psychology, with a specialization in human learning and memory. Additionally, Dr. Munoz explores the intersection between cognitive processes, social psychology, and self-regulation. In other words, he investigates how cognitive processes (such as learning and memory) are influenced by the real or imaginary presence of others, as well as variables such as self-control, emotion, and the environment.

His current research areas include prospective memory, and the role of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Prospective memory is the ability to remember to fulfill future intentions, such as taking medication or refueling a car. He is particularly interested in prospective memory commission errors, which occur when individuals mistakenly complete tasks they intended to do in the future. For example, a patient who regularly takes blood thinners might need to remember to stop taking them before major surgery. Forgetting this could lead to life-threatening commission errors.

Dr. Munoz is also keen on understanding how artificial intelligence (AI) influences teaching and learning processes. He believes that AI can revolutionize education, serving as an effective tool for implementing best and evidence-based practices. His focus is on how AI can enhance educational outcomes and experiences, while reducing redundant tasks and other learning challenges.

Dr. Munoz is enthusiastic about collaborating with Flagler students on research projects. Interested students are encouraged to contact him at amunoz@flagler.edu for research opportunities.
