Professional Profile

Dr. Dana L. Hart Slater is an Associate Professor at Flagler College, where she teaches most of the financial sequence courses. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Louisiana–Monroe, her master’s in taxation, and her Ph.D. in accountancy from the University of Mississippi.  

Before beginning her career in academia, Dr. Hart Slater worked as a tax practitioner and software support specialist in public accounting. She maintains an active CPA license in the State of Florida and is involved in several educational and professional organizations, such as the Florida Institute of Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Southeast Case Research Association. 

She conducts behavioral research on corporate governance, accounting education, tax reporting, and compliance issues.  Her publications include the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, the IMA Educational Case Journal, the Quarterly Review of Business Disciplines, and the CPA Journal.
