Flagler College is pleased to announce a $100,000 gift from John and Kathryn Oliver, establishing the Oliver-Seward Family Fund FlagSHIP Endowed Scholarship.

This endowed scholarship will support students seeking to broaden their educational experiences through study abroad, enhancing access to global learning opportunities that are vital to a well-rounded education.

“This scholarship will create incredible opportunities for our students to gain international perspectives that shape their academic, professional, and personal growth,” said Dr. Jessica Howell, Assistant Dean for Global Education and International Partnerships and Associate Professor of History at Flagler College. “John and Kathryn Olivers’ commitment to fostering global education is invaluable, and their support will open doors for students who dream of experiencing different cultures and learning beyond our borders.”

The couple shared their inspiration for their gift: “Our family believes that learning through travel is one of the most impactful experiences a student can have. We are thrilled to provide aid to students with financial need who would not otherwise be able to afford a study abroad experience through FlagSHIP.”

John and Kathryn have been members of the Family Leadership Council since 2020, and their son Noah will graduate in 2025. Their scholarship will help future students benefit from the transformative experiences that Noah has enjoyed during his time at Flagler.
