Living Off Campus

Each of St. Augustine’s neighborhoods has its own local charm and unique character. Each also has its own attractions and things to do. Here’s a brief introduction to the neighborhoods surrounding our campus.

Across the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island, the winding streets of Davis Shores Davis shores offer  a mashup of homes from different eras plus abundant green space. Close to downtown — yet not far from the beach.

Downtown St. Augustine is the heart of everything. The blocks immediately surrounding our campus make up a National Historic Landmark District, consisting of homes built by Henry Flagler during the city’s early development.

Established in 1866 by freed slaves, Lincolnville is known for its rich history, culture, and charm — and it’s just a 15-minute walk to campus.

If you’re longing for a relaxed island lifestyle just steps away from rolling ocean waves, look no further than St. Augustine Beach. This neighborhood is a city in its own right and perfect for those who crave fish tacos, sun, salt, and surf.

Steps away from the action of downtown, Uptown offers a quiet escape with plenty to enjoy. Take in a music or culture festival at Francis Field or pause for a picnic at the Mission under the shade of the giant cross.

Just across the San Sebastian River and U.S.1 is the funky, eclectic West Augustine district. Surrounded by shady trees and downtown views — removed from the bustling crowds of tourists — this up-and-coming area is budding with offbeat shops, galleries and restaurants.

Can Freshmen & Transfer Students Live Off-Campus?

Life on campus is such an important part of the educational experience at a residential college. This is why we require all Flagler freshmen to live on campus unless they’ve received prior approval from the Office of Admissions.

Transfer students who have completed less than 24 semester hours of credit also must live on campus, unless otherwise approved by the Office of Admissions.
